What this calculator can do
It scales a printed dose from one water volume to another. This is useful when a label gives a rate per 5,000 or 10,000 gallons.
What it cannot do
It cannot determine an exact dose from pH, chlorine, alkalinity or CYA without product strength and chemistry-specific information. Use a dedicated calculator or the manufacturer’s instructions when the dose depends on the test result.

It is one unit of the condition described by the label, such as one 10-ppm increase, one maintenance dose or one treatment cycle.

Yes, but only when you enter the dose and reference volume from the exact chlorine product and strength.

No. Active ingredient, concentration and formulation can differ even when products serve a similar purpose.
Why should I add less than the full estimate first?
Pool volume and test results are not perfectly exact. Staged dosing reduces the chance of overshooting.
Does the calculator account for chemical strength?
Only indirectly through the label dose you enter. It does not convert between concentrations.
Can I mix products before adding them?
No. Pool chemicals should never be mixed unless the product manufacturer explicitly directs it. Add each product separately according to its label.
Should the pump run during treatment?
Follow the product label and equipment instructions. Many treatments require circulation, but the exact procedure varies.
What units does the result use?
The calculator treats the entered label dose as ounces and also converts the result to pounds. Measure liquid products according to their own label units instead.
