How to choose a cleaner for a large pool
1. Measure the longest pool dimension
Compare your longest pool dimension against the exact manufacturer maximum pool length. Every residential cleaner in this comparison is rated up to 50 feet; longer pools require a separately verified commercial model.
2. Check cable management and power supply placement
An anti-tangle swivel helps cable handling but does not extend manufacturer-rated reach. Use a code-compliant outlet and follow the power-supply setback and electrical instructions in the model manual.
3. Match the filter to your debris
An extra-large basket helps with leaf volume; finer filter media helps retain fine dust. Sigma has an extra-large multi-layer basket, while Premier offers interchangeable bag and cartridge filtration.
4. Decide whether waterline scrubbing matters
All five selected manufacturer pages specify floor, wall and waterline coverage. Real results vary with pool geometry, tile profile, debris and pool surface.
5. Compare cycle length and app controls
Sigma uses a 2.5-hour default, Premier 3 hours, Nautilus Titan and S300 2 hours, and Explorer E50 offers selectable 1.5-, 2- and 2.5-hour cycles. A longer cycle does not guarantee coverage of steps.
6. Account for lifting and service
Large robots may be heavy when waterlogged. Nautilus Titan advertises Pick-Up Mode; S300 includes a caddy per the manufacturer listing. Check filter-cleaning access and replacement part availability.
Large-pool compatibility checklist
If your pool exceeds 50 feet, do not assume any of these five residential cleaners will cover it. Check commercial-rated options and service support.
Understanding large-pool ownership costs
Budget for filters, tracks, brushes, power supply, cable and caddy. Do not infer that every 50-foot robot has the same filter kit, warranty or accessories.
Frequently asked questions
Can a 50-foot cleaner clean a 60-foot pool?
Do not assume so. The 50-foot manufacturer rating is the published maximum; look for a model expressly rated for the longer pool.
Which model offers an extra-large filter basket?
Maytronics lists an extra-large multi-layer basket for Sigma and an extra-large interchangeable basket for Nautilus Titan.
Do these models clean the waterline?
Yes, their cited US manufacturer product pages list floor, walls and waterline. Coverage of steps and unusual shapes is not guaranteed.
Is a swivel cable enough for a large pool?
No. A swivel reduces tangling risk; it does not replace checking the maximum pool length, cable routing and power-supply location.
Which model includes a caddy?
The Maytronics S300 product specification lists a caddy; confirm the retailer is selling the same model and package.
What if my pool is longer than 50 feet?
Choose a commercial-rated cleaner with a manufacturer-stated pool-length capacity and compatible service support rather than stretching a residential specification.
