SHOP BY NEED

These are the five models currently listed by Pentair. The published outputs below use 80°F air / 80°F water / 80% relative humidity test conditions, not a guarantee of real-world heating rate.

Five GulfStream HE Heat Pumps Compared

These options solve different problems. Compare the two complete systems if you are installing new equipment; shop replacement components only after confirming compatibility.

HEAT ONLY01

GulfStream HE110-RA

110,000 BTU/hr · COP 6.1

Lower-output option in the current HE range. Best evaluated for pools with a moderate heating load.

Check before buying

Requires 230V single-phase service and at least 20 GPM; manufacturer lists a 40A maximum breaker.

HEAT ONLY02

GulfStream HE125-RA

118,000 BTU/hr · COP 6.0

Step up in heating output without adding cooling functionality.

Check before buying

Manufacturer specifies 30–70 GPM and a 50A maximum breaker; compare heat-loss needs before sizing.

HEAT ONLY03

GulfStream HE150-RA

138,000 BTU/hr · COP 6.0

Highest published heating-only output among these five current models.

Check before buying

Confirm electrical capacity, pad clearance and hydraulic flow; rated output is measured at 80/80/80 conditions.

HEAT + COOL04

GulfStream HE125-TA

115,000 BTU/hr · COP 6.0

For owners who want to heat in cooler months and actively cool an overheated pool.

Check before buying

Heat/cool is for pool water; confirm control settings and 30–70 GPM flow before ordering.

HEAT + COOL05

GulfStream HE150-TA

135,000 BTU/hr · COP 6.0

Higher-output heating/cooling choice when a professional heat-loss calculation supports the capacity.

Check before buying

50A maximum breaker; verify installation conditions and the heat/cool model designation, not just BTU.

IMPORTANT DETAILS

The most expensive mistake is buying by nominal BTU alone. Match operating mode, heat loss and installation constraints first.

How to Choose a GulfStream Heat Pump

Start with the job you need to complete, then confirm the technical details. These four decisions prevent the most common expensive ordering mistakes.

01

Heat-only RA or heat/cool TA?

RA units heat only. TA units also cool the pool, which can matter in hot climates. The TA cooling function is not intended for spas.

02

Size for climate, not only gallons

A heat-loss calculation should account for surface area, desired temperature, weather, cover use and heating window. Nominal BTU ratings alone cannot determine warm-up time.

03

Confirm electrical and water-flow requirements

Pentair specifies 230V service for the US models. HE110-RA is rated for 20–70 GPM; the other four list 30–70 GPM. Have an installer confirm breaker and wiring requirements.

04

Plan for controls and service

GulfStream has an onboard digital display and can integrate with compatible automation. Confirm the exact control interface and warranty conditions with Pentair or your installer.

Before ordering, confirm these points with your pool professional.

GulfStream Installation Checklist

Have these details ready before opening a product listing or contacting a seller.

  • Measure the pool and estimate heat loss, including climate and cover use.
  • Choose heat-only (RA) or heat/cool (TA); these are not interchangeable functions.
  • Confirm the exact model’s 230V electrical service and breaker requirements.
  • Check water flow, 2-inch union plumbing and equipment-pad clearance.
  • Verify current Pentair warranty, dealer support and who performs installation.
  • Diagnose a repair fault before ordering a replacement part.

For electrical and plumbing installation, follow manufacturer instructions and local codes.

BUYER QUESTIONS

GulfStream Heat Pump FAQs

Answers to the compatibility and sizing questions worth resolving before you place an order.

01 / BUYER QUESTION

Is GulfStream still an independent product line?

GulfStream is now part of Pentair Pool. Pentair publishes the current HE series specifications and handles support and warranty resources.

02 / BUYER QUESTION

What is the difference between RA and TA models?

RA models are heating-only units. TA models can heat and cool pool water; do not assume an RA model can be converted after purchase.

03 / BUYER QUESTION

Which GulfStream heat pump has the highest listed heating output?

Among Pentair’s five current US models, HE150-RA is listed at 138,000 BTU/hr at the published 80/80/80 test point. HE150-TA is rated at 135,000 BTU/hr.

04 / BUYER QUESTION

Can I use my existing automation controller?

Pentair describes compatibility with major automation systems, but the control method and wiring must be checked against the exact controller and GulfStream installation manual.

05 / BUYER QUESTION

Can I install a GulfStream heat pump myself?

Electrical supply, plumbing flow and clearances must comply with the manufacturer’s installation instructions and local codes. Professional installation is the prudent route, particularly for warranty coverage.
